Rice Bowls

As many of you know Allen and I have been church searching for awhile. We have visited so many churches in the last few months it was getting tiring. We wanted to find a church that had a good pastor, enjoyable music, a good kids program. Well, we think we may have found it. This Church is unlike any that we have ever been too, its HUGE! I believe it has 14,000 members. We never thought that we would like such a huge church, and it still is a little overwhelming, but the pastor is amazing. What is most exciting to me is what the kids have taken away both times that we have attended.

The first week we attended the girls learned a memory verse, I glanced at it but didn't practice it with them at all that week. Later in the week Savannah said, " Mom you need to sign this for me to bring back this Sunday" I said, "That is only if you memorized the memory verse." At that time both her and Addy stepped back and acted out and recited Psalm 95:6

O come, let us worship and bow down, let us kneel before the Lord, our maker.

I was shocked. I thought to myself Wow! This is great. We will have to visit this Church again. So, we did on Sunday evening. Addy, Savannah and Thomas all had rice bowls to bring home. They are so excited about this! They are supposed to collect CHANGE in their rice bowls to be part of the CHANGE. The funds from the rice bowls will be used to provide food for children in orphanages in South Africa, India, and Haiti. There is also a family challenge of trying to eat a dinner one a week, that is similar to what children in the orphanages would eat. The money saved on the meal than can be placed in their rice bowls.

Today after school: Addy told Savannah and Thomas to get their rice bowls and they went on a hunt around the house to look for money to put in their bowls. She even yelled out "For the hunger" as she was running down the stairs. It was very cute so I had to take a picture of them all.

It is wonderful to see this kind of excitement in the kids, and Allen and I really enjoy the sermons, so we can actually say we are looking forward to next Sunday at Church.
