Me Vs the Hair Dresser
Not a happy Momma right now. I just got back from getting Joseph's haircut. We have done this many times, and not had a problem. Today was a different story. I can't say his haircut is bad, it's just not that I asked for.
Here is the scene. I have just finished taking away the fourth bottle of hair product that Joseph has picked up and thrown to the ground when we are called back. I am nervous instantly. This is an older lady with glasses and a hairstyle that haven't been updated since the 80's. I tell her this, " I like to keep his hair longer so that we can keep the curls"
"Okay" she says and than proceeds to get out CLIPPERS! " Do you mind if I use clippers"
I say, "We don't usually use clippers and I don't want his hair to short. We normally get a scissor cut"
She says," Clippers are safer than scissors I will just use them at the base of his neck"
"Okay" I say
...Buzz, Buzz, Buzz, Buzz go the clippers all over the back of his head. Then she brings them up
around the front.
I say," I want you to use scissors now"
So, then she starts snipping away, Josph is screaming, and squirming and I say" he normally doesn't act this way (trying to make the point to this woman that neither of us like her)
She says," Kids always act this way"
I say "he has had numerous haircuts and he never acts this way" Again I say "you are cutting too much off"
She says," This is still very long to me" (I don't care what you think lady!)
I say," you need to stop this is not what I asked for"
She says, with scissors still in hand..." This is a little boys haircut, let me just finish"
I say, " I know what a little boy's haircut is and I didn't want one, we still wanted to keep his hair on the longer side" then added. "this is not what I told you I wanted"
"hmmm" she says
We are done.
We walk to the desk
"That will be $12 please"
I normally tip people a little something, but this woman got nothing. $12 was all she got, and I feel a little guilty for not tipping, but she did not do her job. Am I terrible?
